| 内容記述 | Over the past few decades motivation has gained in importance for second language study. In Japan this is especially true to take advantage of interest in foreign culture and jobs using English, as English becomes the global language of business communication. This paper presents a number of practical steps teachers can follow to address motivation issues in the class, from developing a good rapport with students to building the idea of autonomy. However, the teacher creating the right environment by itself is not enough to completely deal with motivation, good teaching methodology is also important. One particular teaching ethos, Task-Based teaching is a powerful medium that provides students with opportunities to negotiate meaning and can increase motivation. This paper further compares how 6 different types of tasks can affect 3 important variables in motivation: autonomy, clear outcomes and appropriateness of challenge, and suggests the best type of task to build motivation. | |||||||
